Denise R. Schoen Denise represents clients in land use and planning matters, real estate transactions, wills and estate matters, and general litigation.She was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 1998 and is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Denise started her law career in the litigation department of Dewey & LeBoeuf in Manhattan where she worked on corporate litigation matters. After several years in the city, Denise moved back to her hometown of East Hampton where she served as an Assistant East Hampton Town Attorney representing both the Zoning Board and Planning Board.Denise later joined the firm Twomey, Latham, Shea, Kelley, Dubin & Quartararo LLP in Riverhead and East Hampton where her practice was concentrated on land use and planning matters along with residential real estate transactions. Denise became partners with former East Hampton High School classmates, Jonathan Tarbet and Brian Lester, in April of 2007. Denise attended Long Island University at Southampton and graduated with a B.A. in pre-law summa cum laude in 1994 with a cumulative GPA of 3.98.She attended the State University of New York at Buffalo and graduated summa cum laude in 1997 in the top 1% of her class.She was later an associate professor for her alma mater, Southampton College, having taught a course entitled “Women, the Law, and Public Policy.” Denise currently resides in Sag Harbor with her husband Jon and daughters, Sara and Emily.She is an active member of her community having served as a Member of the Sag Harbor Village Zoning Board of Appeals and also the Board of Architectural and Historic Preservation.She currently represents Sag Harbor Village as its prosecutor of local zoning and parking regulations.She serves on the Board of Directors for the Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance Corps and is an active Critical Care Emergency Medical Technician.She is also a practical lab instructor for EMT students.
Jonathan G. Tarbet Jonathan represents clients in land use and planning matters, real estate transactions, wills and estate matters, and general litigation. He is a graduate of St. John's School of Law. Mr. Tarbet was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 1998. Jonathan started his law career in the corporate department of Dewey & LeBoeuf. After several years in the city, Jonathan moved back to his hometown of East Hampton where he served as an Assistant East Hampton Town Attorney representing the Zoning Board.In 2004, Jonathan started this law firm concentrating initially on land use and planning matters along with residential real estate transactions.Jonathan became partners with former East Hampton High School classmates, Denise Schoen and Brian Lester, in April of 2007. Jonathan currently resides in East Hampton with his wife Laura and children, Isabella, Luke andNathanial.He is an active member of his community having served as a volunteer fireman since 2001.
Brian J. Lester Brian was admitted to practice law in the State of New York on March 18, 1998. He was admitted to the U.S. District Court, Eastern District June 19, 2002. In 1994, Mr. Lester graduated West Chester University, summa cum laude, with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. He then attended the Suffolk County Police Academy graduating valedictorian of his class. Mr. Lester worked throughout his law school career as a police officer with the East Hampton Village Police Department. He received his degree in jurisprudence from Hofstra University School of Law in May 1997 graduating with honors. During his time at Hofstra he interned at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, Criminal Division. He also participated in Hofstra's Criminal Justice Clinic receiving practical client interaction and courtroom experience. Mr. Lester was also Research Editor of the Hofstra Law Review and his Comment, "Is It Too Late for Juvenile Curfews? Qutb Logic and the Constitution" was published in the Hofstra Law Review, 25 Hofstra L. Rev. 665 (1996). Mr. Lester is a member of the American Bar Association, New York Bar Association, and Suffolk County Bar Association. Mr. Lester is currently involved in many facets of the firm's civil practice, including litigation, real estate, business, landlord/tenant and family law matters.
Rudy Fusco After a twenty-two year police career with the NYC Transit Police Department and the Suffolk County Police Department, Mr. Fusco joined Tarbet, Lester & Schoen, PLLC. Mr. Fusco is a graduate of New York Institute of Technology and Hofstra University School of Law and practices mainly in the areas of litigation, including trust and estate litigation, asset protection, estate planning and tax controversy. Mr. Fusco obtained his law degree in 2005 while working full-time as the Commanding Officer of the Suffolk County Police STOP-DWI Team. He has represented clients in Nassau and Suffolk Supreme Courts, Surrogate Courts, District Courts, Criminal Courts and before the IRS and NYS Department of Taxation and Finance. Mr. Fusco is admitted to the NYS Bar and is a member of the NYS Bar Association, Suffolk County Bar Association, NYS Elder Law Section, NYS Trusts and Estates Section and the NYS Tax Section.
Paula A. Ferreira Paula A. Ferreira received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Skidmore College and her law degree from Duquesne University School of Law. Before law school Ms. Ferreira worked as a paralegal for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in the structured finance and international departments.During law school Ms. Ferreira worked as a paralegal on the East End. Ms. Ferreira is admitted to the bar of the State of New York and is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and New York State Bar Association.
